Privacy Policy

Kandila uses Google Firebase for its database, sign-in, and notifications. The following information is collected and stored against your account:

• · Google account identifier (via Firebase Authentication) when you sign in
• · A display name you choose (or your Google name as the default)
• · Your selected location: province, city, and barangay (text only — no GPS, no map coordinates)
• · Prayers you post on the Prayer Wall (the text you write)
• · Activity counters: candles you have lit, gospel reflections completed, daily missions completed, rosaries completed, RSVPs for the daily 8 PM Rosary
• · Reports you submit on prayers (kept private — only Kandila admins can see who reported what)
• · Pioneer rank if you are among the first 10 members of your barangay
• · A push notification token (if you allow notifications) so we can send you reminders
• · Advertising identifier (via Google AdMob, only when you consent in privacy-regulated regions)
• · A few preference flags (large-text mode, theme, whether you have completed onboarding)

Your information is used only to make Kandila work for you:

• · To show your prayers on the Prayer Wall of your selected barangay (and only that barangay)
• · To show you prayers from your neighbors in the same barangay
• · To remember the candles you have lit, the rosaries you have prayed, and the good works you have completed
• · To send you a quiet push notification before the 8 PM Rosary (only if you RSVP and grant notification permission)
• · To send you a quiet push notification when a neighbor lights a candle for one of your prayers
• · To enforce community guidelines through user reports and threshold-based moderation
• · To show advertisements that keep Kandila free for everyone (see "Advertising" below)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell the text of your prayers. We do not share your information with marketers.

Prayers you post on the Prayer Wall are visible to other signed-in members of the same barangay you selected. They are not searchable on the public internet. They are not visible to anyone outside your barangay.

Your display name is shown alongside each prayer you post. If you want to remain anonymous, you may set your display name to a generic identifier in Settings.

Reports you submit on a prayer are never shown to the prayer's author. Only Kandila administrators can view who reported what — and only for moderation review.

Kandila is built on top of these third-party services:

• · Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging) — to power sign-in, store prayers, and deliver notifications
• · Google AdMob — to serve respectful in-app advertising that keeps Kandila free
• · Google Play Services — required for Android app delivery and updates

Each of these providers handles your data according to its own privacy practices. Their data is held in Google's infrastructure under Google's privacy and security commitments.

Kandila uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs. Analytics events are anonymized and we strictly avoid logging any identifying content:

• · We never log the text of your prayers
• · We never log your display name
• · We never log the exact name of your barangay (only province + city, if at all)
• · We do log the type of action (e.g. "a candle was lit") so we can see if features work
• · We log crash diagnostics (device model, OS version, stack trace) so we can fix bugs you encounter

These analytics are used to make Kandila better — they are never used to drive engagement-maxxing UX. Kandila will never show streaks, leaderboards, or shame-based prompts.

Kandila is free to use. To pay for the servers, development, and ongoing care, we display quiet, respectful ads in low-friction places:

• · A small native sponsor card on the Prayer Wall feed
• · A short interstitial after the daily Mission and after the 8 PM Rosary
• · Optional rewarded videos for boosts ("Strengthen Prayer", post-prayer Pin, Golden Glow)

We never show ads inside the Gospel reflection, on top of a specific prayer, or at any other moment that would feel disrespectful.

Ad content is capped at G (General Audiences). Gambling, dating, alcohol, and politics are blocked at the publisher level. Personalised advertising (using your advertising identifier) only runs after you have given consent through Google's UMP consent flow — required by law in regulated regions.

Prayers on the Prayer Wall automatically expire and disappear after 24 hours. They stay in our database briefly after that for technical reasons, then are deleted permanently.

Account information (your display name, location, activity counters) is kept for as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, your data is removed within 30 days.

To request account deletion, email us at support_kandila@vcdigitalmedia.com. We will confirm deletion within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

You have the right to:

• · Access the personal information we hold about you
• · Correct any inaccurate information
• · Delete your account and associated data at any time
• · Withdraw consent for advertising or notifications at any time, in app Settings or your device settings
• · Ask any question about how your data is handled
